Quote of the week 2013: Week #27

1 Jul

I have a job interview today, but only for a Summer job working at a pub. Still, in the future I intend to follow this great saying:

“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”

– Confucius

Quote of the week 2013: Week #26

It’s time we all started to have a little more fun…

Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive.”

– Elbert Hubbard

Quote of the Week 2013: Week #25

17 Jun

It’s the Summer holidays and it’s time to find a Summer job. So far I have found that I can’t get a job because I have no experience because I can’t get a job because I have no experience… and on and on it goes. But the worst thing to do would be to give up. Keep persevering and eventually something will come through, and that’s why this week’s quote is fitting for my life at the moment.

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

– Winston Churchill

Quote of the Week 2013: Week #24

10 Jun

Exams are over and now I can finally relax and look forward to a Summer of writing, reading and picking up this blog where I left off! This week’s quote therefore seems exceedingly appropriate, especially with the recent release of the new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby (which I must say was exceptional):

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

– F.Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby

Quote of the Week 2013: Week #11

11 Mar

“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of.”

– Charles Richards

Quote of the Week 2013: Week #10

7 Mar

This week’s quote is apologetically very late… It has been a blurred mad catchup of essays and deadlines after the non-stop essence of show week. But this is the inspirational quote which I think aptly describes the way I feel towards the successful completion of goals this week:

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.”

– Ernest Hemingway

Quote of the Week 2013: Week #9

25 Feb

So, at the end of this week I will be performing as Cousin Hebe in Gilbert and Sullivan’s HMS Pinafore at University! There have been intense rehearsals and a hell of a lot of hard work put into the show, but Sammy Davis, Jr. hits the nail right on the head with this quote showing that something magical will occur on that stage as the lights go down and the curtains open that no amount of rehearsing can account for…

“Part of show business is magic. You don’t know how it happens.”

-Sammy Davis, Jr.
